Two pipelines behind one command. For functional parts, a language model writes real CAD code that is executed in a sandbox and checked to the tenth of a millimetre. For organic models, AI mesh generation is followed by a solidification step that turns triangle soup into a guaranteed solid.

The brief
No mesh a slicer will reject.
AI 3D generators produce pretty models that fail in the slicer: open edges, inverted normals, floating fragments. And they cannot make a bracket that is exactly 42 mm wide. We needed both, for our own product range and for client parts.
- Parametric pipeline: Claude writes build123d CAD code from the prompt, it runs in a subprocess sandbox with a retry loop, FDM fit tolerances are applied, and the editable Python is saved next to the STL.
- Creative pipeline: Meshy, Tripo or a local Hunyuan3D-2 on our own GPU, then winding-number solidification, marching cubes and Taubin smoothing.
- A validator on every output: watertight, consistent winding, positive volume, bed size and thin-feature warnings.
- A repair command for broken downloads from Thingiverse and friends, a Typer CLI, and a FastAPI web UI with a live job log and a three.js bed preview.
- A reverse-engineering job in the repo: a plaque easel photo-traced into male and female snap-hinge parts.

build123d on the OpenCascade kernel for exact geometry, trimesh, PyMeshFix and libigl for mesh work, FastAPI and three.js for the interface. Language model access auto-detects an API key or the Claude Code CLI. An end-to-end smoke test runs with no API keys at all.
